IronBike 2005 Announcement

2005 has started for Trail break with two successful events and our a lot of new and excitnig developments scheduled for the coming months.

This is the time of year when event organisers look at the year ahead and review their schedules set the previous summer. We have our busiest year ever coming up with a total of 44 events that includes two 10th year celebrations and some new and exciting challenges. This will put a lot of pressure on Team Trail Breaks time and resources and has forced us to look really hard at events we feel are going to cause us the most problems or have received poor backing from the trade.

As part of this process we have taken a close look at the viability of the 2005 UK IronBike weekend and have now made the decision to cancel the event for this year. It’s a sad decision because we really believe in the format and feel that given enough backing the new format would be a great addition to the UK calendar. But with so little positive response from the trade and a cloud hanging over the whole issue of insuring open hill races we feel that its one event too much for the coimng season. We feel that this is the right time to make this decision, before the event has been put on sale or anyone has committed to it and that by cancelling it now we can concentrate on other aspects of a very exciting year ahead.

We have not completely dropped the idea of IronBike and given good backing and a clear picture concerning event Insurance and safety we will be happy to present it again in 2006.

Anyone disappointed with the loss of what has always been the UKs hardest off road challenge will be pleased to hear that we have added a new and exciting event, which ups the Iron bike distance to an amazing 250 mile.
We designed the new Pickle Challenge to celebrate the 200 years since the battle of Trafalgar (you will be hearing a lot about this in 2005) and under a commission from the Seafarers charity we are presenting the first mega ride on the 17th-18th September. Starting In Falmouth the ride will follow the route taken by the messenger that brought the news of victory at the battle to London. Crossing areas like Dartmoor and Salisbury plain the route will weave its self off and on road across the south of England, finally spectacularly finishing in Trafalgar Square.

Full details on how to enter and raise money for the charity will be available soon.

Have fun and we look forward to seeing you all on many occasion this year.
