Summer Series 2005: Final August 5th, Checkendon
Checkendon saw Nick Calkin (Allparts Auto) back and on form In spite of claiming to be "a bit rusty" Nick cleared the course to win having done the same at the Friday evening event too!
His closest challenger on the day was Rick Fetherston (Mosquito Bikes) who has seemed to be off the boil lately, but showed he is still a force to be reckoned with, claiming another win in Single Men. A good ride from Mike Davies and Steve Davidson took Mens Team and third overall.
The points gap from the top three down showed that the course was not plain sailing; several of the usual top flighters came in with tales of bad route choices and tricky decisions affecting their totals. Mike Richman and Neil Grant did well to win Vets Team, Warren & Lisa Bates took Mixed Team and Iwona Szmyd (Mosquito Bikes) was a comfortable winner in the womens cats.
This Checkendon round once again took part in conjunction with our Ride for a Flight fund raiser for the RUSS Appeal. We'd like to say a big thanks to all of you who stayed on to ride the RFAF course or just donated; the weekend raised almost £3,000 to go to UK Air Ambulance Services.
