Fat Tyre Navigator
Kintbury, 13th November 2005
The Navigators returned from their Autumn break to an enthusiastic field taking on the Kintbury hills and the first of the winters mud. All these factors combined to peg scores back across the board and a course clearance was never even threatened; in a fact only a couple of competitors broke the magic 600 point barrier on a tough day.
Super Vet Nick Dean was top dog on the day clocking in with 615 points at the last minute and pipping Alan Millard's day long lead of 600, a score that was still comfortably enough to win Alan the Single Vets category. Meanwhile the supposedly younger and faster guys had to content themselves with the high 500s, as Red Planets Matt Kemp pulled the same trick on Dean Stacey, trumping his leading score in Single Men by just five points at the last minute.
Iwona Szmyd beat all comers in the Womens combined category, in spite of racking up the highest penalty points in the field, while Nick Blake and Richard Smith won Mens Team. Vets Team honours went to Jeff Keen and Gary Ward.
The season takes another short break over the Xmas period but returns in full force for four dates in the New Year and spring (six if you include the two evening events). Full details of the New Year Navigator calendar are here. Have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in January!
