Fat Tyre Navigator

Shackleford, 25th November 2006

The Navigators are back for the winter and regulars and new faces a like turned out in healthy numbers, in spite of the wettest weekends weather we've had all autumn! The big challenges on the sandy Shackleford course were the sheer volume of standing water that combined with the sand to strip many riders of what was left of their brake pads, and of course, the tricky task of navigating one of the most complex course around!

Rick Fetherstone celebrated his graduation to the Vets category with an emphatic overall win. Finishing just 20 points shy of a clearance was an incredible performance in the conditions. Nick Dean got his customary Super Vets win and second overall. Daniel Horton edged out Jason Robinson in a tight Single Men's competition and John Platt & Dean Stacey piloted their tandem to victory in Men's Team! Matt Kemp and Kerry Noonan teamed up to win Mixed pairs, Bill Pewsey & James hunt made the long trip over from the Isle of Wight to take top slot in Vets Team and Annie Marson was the best in female categories on the day.

Thanks to our sponsors for this seasons events. Red Planet Bikes were present as usual to help out and contribute some great prizes on the day, and new UK bike brand Pinnacle Bikes have put up a great series draw prize, in the shape of a £999 road bike! Your name goes into the draw just for entering the event, and for every Navigator you enter this season, you'll get anther entry in the draw too!
