Fat Tyre Navigator
Princes Risborough, 9th November 2008
The new season got off to a slippery start at Princes Risborough in wet trails and blustery weather. The heavy trails put paid to any hopes of a course clearance, but there were still some excellent scores on the day.
Top of the pile was Ian Cartwright who managed to hold onto a winning score in spite of 7 minutes worth of penalties. Super Vets winner Nick Dean must have regretted his decision to come in 7 minutes early. One last detour might just have secured the 20 points that would have got him the top spot overall. Warren Bates took the Single Mens category and third overall, while Iwona Szmyd topped the combined womens categories and the rest of the field with an impressive ride for the fourth best score of the day.
John and Freddie Platt of Red Planet Bikes took Mixed Team, just ahead of Mens Team winners Martin Delves and David Valler. Tim and Ralph Dadswell took victory in Vets Team.
Many thanks to Red Planet Bikes for their invaluable help and prize contributions, to Cannondale & USE for supplying more prizes and to SIS for the energy drink. And thanks to all of you for taking part in our new season.. We're at Queen Elizabeth Country Park on the South Downs next month (that's 7th December) and so don't miss it!
