Fat Tyre Navigator
Princes Risborough, 7th November 2009
A new season and we're trying out a new format for the Navigators; Navigator Dual splits the course into two sections, throwing up a some new challenges.
Thanks to everyone for taking part in this first trial of Navigator Dual. We got plenty of valuable feedback, with reaction varying from some who hated it to some who loved it! There was a clear concensus on balance though; the idea has legs, but the first (fixed route) section of the course needs to be shorter. This was backed up in the scoring, with scores well down on the old event format. Even at the top of the pile, the days honours were decided after an intriguing battle ended with Nick Calkin edging Kevin Holloway by 540 points to 530; both well short of course clearances.
Our new format trial will continue at the December round in Cranleigh on 6th December, where we will be fine tuning the rules based on today's feedback and performances; which means a shorter fixed first section, leaving chance for open Navigation. Full details will be updated in the event rules here, and we want to hear your feedback; there's a thread on our forum here.
