Evans Trail Ride - Princes Risborough, 16th April 2005
Knee deep in the Chilterns...
The Chilterns have a reputation as a great riding are with a high mud risk, and a few days of heavy showers fulfilled this promise and cut ride speeds down a few notches. The large field (over 260 riders) found this a tough one on the whole, especially after last months unseasonable pre summer blast at Kintbury.
Still a good workout may have been timely as the Evans calendar 'goes large' in May. First up is the dual event weekend in Carhampton (7-8th May); the biggest and most spectacular of the Evans courses, taking you high onto the exceptional countryside of Exmoor, one of the most beautiful spots in the country and home to some of the best riding you could find too. If you're traveling further than usual for this one, why not stay on for the next day's Navigator Race and make it into a full weekend of riding? Being based just down the road from Minehead means that there is plenty of accommodation in the area. We've put together a few camping and B&B links for you.
After Exmoor, we're heading up to the other end of the country for the Yorkshire bonus round at Leathley, north of Leeds on May 15th. This is part of a weekend of events celebrating Evans Cycles new store at Castleford. If you like the idea of a trip north get booking, or if you know anyone up that way who would enjoy the Evans rides, let them know about it.
As if that wasn't enough, we're rounding off our first big month of the summer with the 10th Wight Diamond Festival from 27-30th May, featuring the all new Wight Trail Enduros. Easy access from London and the south, miles of superb trails, and a full on Festival atmosphere make this the perfect bikers long weekend.
