Evans Trail Ride - QE Country Park, September 2006

Ride Times

The South Downs has almost become home to Team Trail Break this September, with a special month of four events on the big chalk ridge. The month drew to a close in fine style with another busy and popular Evans Trail Ride at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

We flipped the course to run the other way this time, took it further east an not as far south and varied the run in with (some might say cruel) final climb and descent through the park (and an even crueler slog over Butser hill to finish the Long route)! So a lot of changes to the course this time around, but the one thing that doesn't change is the size and number of climbs you have to face around here! With summer losing it's grip, the chalk surface had got pretty wet and slippery in the preceding days too, although the ridge of the downs held off the lousy weather that the rest of the south was getting to give us a fine day of riding in the end!

At the finish, burgers and chili were order of the day and 250 hungry finishers polished off everything we had to throw at them. It seems that good, hot food at the finish has become as much a part of the Evans Ride experience for most of you as the trail itself!

Next month it's show time at Evans' Gatwick HQ again; expect big crowds and plenty to see at the trade stands to go with your ride. It's only two weeks away on October 14th, so don't miss it!

Forthcoming rides:

14th October 2006
Gatwick
4th November 2006
Bramley
25th November 2006
Shackleford
