Big Wight: Wightlink ferry discount for on the day travel, and entry closure updates

A few of you have asked, so we’d just like to confirm that discount codes for travel from Lymington to Yarmouth will be valid for use at the booking office for same day travel. So if you are coming over as a foot passenger on the morning of either day, you don’t need to book your ferry in advance; you can buy a ticket at the terminal and still get the 50% discount.

Please note: Event entry for the Big Wight Enduro on Saturday 19th will be available on the day (at £2 above advance booking prices). Advance online booking closes at midnight on Wednesday (16th). Postal entry is now closed. Please do not send entries by post.

Cities Fit for Cycling campaign

We’re adding our support to the Times Cities Fit for Cycling campaign. We’ve been involved in cycling for a long time, and we’ve seen it both ebb and flow in popularity. Cycling undoubtedly has a higher profile now than we have ever known, although mainstream media coverage of cycling up to now has too often been less than constructive. So, to see a publication of the weight of the Times making a long term commitment to promoting cycling to the public and making our roads safer to ride on, is an enormously positive development. They deserve to be applauded and they deserve your support. If you haven’t already, take a look at their campaign and get behind it.

A look back at Shackleford (video)

We’re looking forward to Shalford this weekend, with a quick look back to Shackleford last month. It was a fantastic start to the Trail Ride year, on the most picture perfect winters day you could hope for, as this video from Richard Read reminds us. And the good omens look set to continue, as we move from a crisp winters ride to a little burst of early Spring, forecast for the Surrey Hills ride on Saturday.

So make a cuppa, enjoy the vid, and let it get you in the mood for some tasty trails on Saturday; it’s gonna be a good one!
